Cyclists Competition

Most of today I was working as paramedic again. Here in Austria was a bank holiday, so I hadn't to work.

Since there is currently a larger cycling event in the area I am normally doing my duty, I helped there of course.

As far as I know, it is an international competition of cyclists. I saw people from all around the globe. If I remember correctly I even saw a group of cyclists from Australia.

The event is observed by the FIS and it seems like you need an official license to compete against the others.

It is held once a year over about a week. The trails where they are driving are also public roads, so the next accident is sadly never far away.

With my co-driver I was placed on about the end of the first third of the circuit, in whole, I think it was about 22 kilometres. The cyclists were coming downhill and quickly passing by on our emergency vehicle, which I already almost parked in the trench.

Obviously, the road was very tight and since it was downhill they were really fast, sometimes I thought they will drive off the right mirror.

Luckily no one did and we hadn't to do anything. My other colleagues, which were located at Start/Finish had to do more, as several cyclists fell in a roundabout.
