A different kind of writing

This Blog Post was originally published on the platform "writelier" (formerly "co-writers" and "200wordsaday"). Sadly the blogging platform was discontinued. I downloaded all my blog posts and prepared them to be republish them here.

A few days ago I read something interesting here on cowriters. It was something like the most dangerous writing app. But instead of a curser that is eating your written words if you don't write fast enough, this app only shows you one letter. It doesn't let you delete anything. You can't view your craft until you're done. An interesting concept. It is especially tricky because I know I made mistakes but I can't correct them until I'm finished. You have to set a word count before you start writing. It is strange to see words bor characters blinking around the centre of the screen. You can't go back until you're finished. They say on their site this is done so you don't focus on correcting your work before it is done. But I do have the fear that I won't be able to identify certain words afterwards. My internal editor is already aching to edit the craft, but I am not done yet. 167 words on the counter. Still a few more to go. But I can already recommend the service, even if you just try it once. It is something special and different to the normal writing apps I am used to. Oh, and it also shows you the words per minute. Interesting.

You can find them here.
