A different kind of birthday

This Blog Post was originally published on the platform "writelier" (formerly "co-writers" and "200wordsaday"). Sadly the blogging platform was discontinued. I downloaded all my blog posts and prepared them to be republish them here.

Originally I had planned a large barbeque on Friday with my coworkers and friends. Yesterday would have been with my family.

Although 25 is an odd number, I thought it might be time to get a few people together and celebrate a little bit. But then came the Corona Crisis.

So today it is only a small part of my family. My parents, my brother, my mother's side of my grandparents and my uncle (one of my father's brothers) and his family.

I have to admit that I am looking forward to this small subset of people. I will get calls from other family members and WhatsApp's from a bunch of other people anyway.

It is also a strange birthday in another way if you calculate with 100 years of lifetime, which I don't, a quarter of this time is now gone. The recent death of a classmate showed me again how short life can be.

Anyway, I have to go now and drive to my parents home. Our grill won't clean itself. I will also have to check out the meat my mother bought and help her prepare the last bits for the barbeque.

Until tomorrow!
