A weekend at my Grandparents Home

This Blog Post was originally published on the platform "writelier" (formerly "co-writers" and "200wordsaday"). Sadly the blogging platform was discontinued. I downloaded all my blog posts and prepared them to be republish them here.

This weekend I decided I should spend at my Grandparents Home. They live about 120 kilometres away from my place, so it is a one and a half-hour drive.

I called my grandmother and Wednesday so she would know that I will be spending my Saturday and Sunday over at their place and prepare a bed for me.

As always she and my grandfather were very thankful that I showed up. We only manage to see us a few time of the year and since my Grandmother has her 80th birthday in three weeks, I thought I will do a short visit.

They live near the Hungarian border of Austria and because of that somehow the telephone network is pretty crappy and internet even worse, but from time to time I like to have one or two days off with no connection at all.

With the all-time online and reachable thing we live in, it is great to find two people to talk to, which have a tv and a "normal and bound" telephone at home.

If they are shopping for groceries, they aren't reachable.

So I spend the days with them in their house and since my grandfather has some memories (he was born in 1936) of the ending of World War 2, he always has some interesting stories to tell.
