A new project

This Blog Post was originally published on the platform "writelier" (formerly "co-writers" and "200wordsaday"). Sadly the blogging platform was discontinued. I downloaded all my blog posts and prepared them to be republish them here.

Last weekend I thought about a new project I should do.  If you are not interested in statistics, you probably shouldn't read on.

Basically, I want to have a large database where all my expenses are listed in. Sure, I have got YNAB (You Need A Budget), but that doesn't have the statistics I want.

Since I want to get back into PHP a little bit, I thought I will do it. Currently, I have got a bunch of databases ready to be filled with data.

I also want the app to serve as a driver's log, worktime log and everything else that comes into my mind at a later stage.

I am thinking about starting with only the databases and data. phpMyAdmin will do as basic "administration" overview, even though it will get a little bit crumpy with all the tables I have in mind.

So, with only a database full of data I can fully focus on the statistics and graphics part. Currently, I don't think I will open-source the code as it will be ugly at first, but maybe later on. But I do think I will make the page visible from everywhere.

Not only because transparency is but, but also because why not? If someone asks me what my day job earns me, I don't bother and tell them right away. No need to make secrets.
