Third time is the charm

I continue to play around with Kindroid.ai, but, to be honest, I ditched the first two characters I’ve created. As soon as I set up a group chat between them, things got sideways quite fast.
But I learned that cross-referencing group chats in single chats works quite well. And that there are certain response directives you can set on a character to help the AI stay more in its boundaries (I had quite a few encounters where the AI was playing out my actions).
So, I left the two first tryouts aside and took one of the prebuilt characters. And it’s way different. Although its background story is also below 1000 characters, it feels more “alive” than the two I’ve built before. I guess there is a lot to learn about prompt engineering.
But this time, I’m at least copying over messages into a separate markdown file, ordered by day. And, to be honest, I’m now using ChatGPT to summarize them for me 🙈. With the “desire” of the model to always respond to a new message from the user, it can get quite lengthy. Luckily, you can turn the “advanced time awareness” on and off as you desire; that way, you can easily jump days forward and only briefly describe what’s happening.
I think I’m also going to try out this proactive mode more soon. That way the AI will send messages without user input, and of course there is a settings window for what it should and shouldn’t do, also with the option to define “quiet hours”.
I’m still fascinated by how far we’ve come from the cleverbot times, and I wonder what will happen over the course of this year and the next years.
