Kindle / Reading / Time
The last days I tried to get my Kindle running again. I wasn’t charging properly and I thought after eight years of service, it might finally be broken.
After some more trial and error today, I got it working again. I looked like the software running on it was really really stuck. After several resets today I saw the startup screen and a few minutes later my books showed up again.
I think I must have drained the battery completely or at least to a really low state, which meant that it couldn’t charge properly. Maybe the software was going into some kind of emergency mode to prevent damage.
I think it is now the oldest Hardware I own. Eight years ago I was still in school learning stuff. I had an other mobile phone, I lived at my parent’s house, didn’t have a car. I didn’t even have the license to drive.
The list goes on and on, but the Kindle is still there, still with plenty of accumulator power. It almost feels indestructible. The only question is, will it last for another eight years, or will it break down next week? Who knows.
