Noise
As you probably know, I am working as (now Senior) Full Stack Developer at a medium-sized company (I think we are 150 people now). In the Web-Development Department, we are seven people now and are all in a single “large office” shared with two co-workers from quality assurance and another co-worker working on a different product.
As there is always some chatting going on or somebody is on the phone, it can get quite loud. Two people start to talk, the next two need to talk a little bit louder and you know how it continues.
Obviously not all chatter is work-related and there is nothing wrong with it. But sometimes I dream of my own office with only one other person.
As this won’t happen soon, I’ve got another technique to distract me from talking back to coding. Music.
Currently, I’m really obsessed with Fleetwood Mac. I listened to their “Greatest Hits”-Album probably a hundred times now. I still don’t get bored on it.
Sometimes I even only listen to one song (Go your own way) 10 times or more. Also, I had “Thnks fr th mmrs” from Fall Out Boy on repeat yesterday.
I find it fascinating how I can’t overhear a simple song. Somebody might think the same lyrics over and over would drive you crazy.
I know the lyrics of “Go your own way” and “Thnks fr th mmrs” completely by now. And interestingly it helps me to focus my mind, singing along on every repetition. And I’m always a little sad when I know that after the next sentence the song would be over and start over again.
What’s wrong with me? :)
