Diving into VR - Day 4 - Showoff

As I have written before, today was a kinda “group” VR day after work. A few coworkers and I occupied the larger meeting room and everybody got to try virtual reality.

Most of my friends never had a virtual reality headset on their head, but everybody managed the controls without a hassle.

One of my coworkers also has an Oculus Quest and so we set up two playspaces near each other. Through “AirServer” we were able to cast both headsets to the overhead projectors.

So not only the people playing got to see what is happening but also the other people in the room.

My coworker agreed that at every minute one of us two had to take a look at the people having the headsets on. Even though we would have enough place for room-scale VR, we only designated a small area, so nobody would hit the walls.

Everybody who had a headset on for the first time was blown away. Nobody was expecting the quality the Quest delivers without a computer or strapped down via some cabling.

Sadly we had to stop, as a severe thunderstorm was coming up and most of us had to drive home.

I think I will schedule a follow up meeting soon.
