Diving into VR

In the last years, virtual reality started to come around. I think 2016 Oculus launched their first headset.

Just like Pebble did with their Smartwatch, Oculus created a market. Four years later Oculus is still a market leader.

I ordered a Rift a year back and tested it. I could afford it, but I knew time wasn’t right yet so I sent it back.

I kept an eye on the VR market and decided that I want to buy a headset for my birthday this year. After some researching, I settled on the Oculus Quest. It starts at 450€ and doesn’t need a pc.

The fact that is is always sold out also speaks for it. I wanted to order it through amazon, but a came a few days too late. It is sold out again.

Luckily there is another online retailer that is selling it for the same price as the Oculus website.

I spend yesterday and today’s evening with checking out videos and games I could play. According to the post office, it could arrive until Friday. If it does, it will be a long Saturday.

I’m really looking forward to testing out the capabilities of the headset. It will also be interesting to bring the headset along with me. As it is rechargeable and doesn’t need a computer to run, I can show it off to my family and friends without the need that they visit me.

I hope I don’t get lost. :)
