The Conjuring
As I was writing about “The Nun” and have written there, I thought about watching the whole “The Conjuring” universe. I watched the first movie from 2013 the day before yesterday and the second one yesterday.
I might be watching “Annabelle” today and “Annabelle: Creation” tomorrow. According to Wikipedia, there is also a third movie coming at the end of this year and two more movies to be announced.
Expect “The Curse of La Llorona” all movies are on Netflix, which makes it easy for me. But back to the two “Conjuring”.
I enjoyed both of them, although I find the first one to be more frightening than the second one. Somehow I also rediscovered my love for horror movies. But everything comes with a pitfall. Although I don’t have problems with my sleep after watching such a video, the time till I fall to sleep is a little bit more frightening than normally.
Both movies suite well into the horror genre. Interestingly nobody dies which I find good as it develops the characters instead of murdering them. I also want to take a look at the work the movies are based around.
In both title scenes, there is the phrase “based on a true story”. As far as Wikipedia knows, the movies are based on stories by Ed and Lorraine Warren. Two of the most famous demonologists.
They published some books around their work, maybe I will order them at my next book ordering rush.
All in all, I can definitely recommend the movies to people who enjoy being frightened and who want more than just a simple scare jump movie.
