Micro Habits
Recently @judetejada wrote about “small habits to start up your day”. I really enjoyed the post and thought about small habits I could do myself. Although small is a pretty good explanation, I think micro suits mine better.
As @judetejada, I started making my bed in the morning. I never did that since I left my parents home to live on my own. The burst of happiness that you completed something right after standing up is really a motivational boost, I didn’t expect.
After that, I’m proceeding to open the windows in my bedroom, the office and the door to the balcony. As the balcony door is on the other side of the Apartment, then the window in the office and in my bedroom, I get a rush of fresh air through the whole Apartment.
Then I am going downstairs (I’m living on the second floor, without elevator) to collect the newspaper from the mailbox. Before that, I press the button on my coffee maker that I prepared the day before. As soon as I’m up again, my body feels like properly woken up.
Such small tasks can make a big difference. I really enjoy those mornings where I follow this small routine. It is interesting how easy you can change your mind for the day with just a few small steps and some light physical activity.
