What happens to a Business after you die?
One of my neighbours called me today because he has a problem with his mail account.
I took a quick look at it. It seems like the mail server isn’t available anymore. After a little bit of chatting, I heard that the freelancer that was responsible for the whole thing committed suicide last year.
Thinking about it, the domain probably expired and so did all the servers. Luckily my neighbour uses POP3 so he got the mails backed up locally, but all emails that would be arriving until we figured something out will be lost.
I will try to contact the original domain registrar and hope to get some pieces of information on what we could do.
The whole thing brought me to think about my own freelance business. Luckily I don’t do business alone so there is at least one other person that would have access to the server and domains.
But I think it might be time to set up some legal stuff around that. I know it sounds absurd thinking about the last will in my mid-twenties, but unexpected stuff can happen every time.
My cousin died with 32 or 33 if I remember correctly. That would be only eight years from now.
