Re: Work

Thanks, @twizzle for today’s post inspiration. I wanted to write about something different, but I already forgot that. :)

Did your childhood dreams of work end up a reality?

That is a really good question. Thinking back, if I remember I wanted to work as a cook when I was young. That was maybe until I was about seven or eight.

At that age, I think my parents got their first computer. I was consumed by its capabilities. I spent every free minute trying things. It didn’t take long and I knew more than my parents did.

By that time my focus switched from cooking to computers. I wasn’t sure which job would finally make it, but I knew it would have to do something with computers.

I went to a dedicated school for IT-stuff, and there I finally found my possion: software development. Even though programming wasn’t really taught in said school.

Later, while in civilian service, I discovered another thing I really enjoy: helping and working with people.

So, did my dreams work out? No, I even managed to outgrow my dreams. One of my greatest achievements if you would ask me.

As a child and teenager, I couldn’t imagine the life I’m living now.
