Moving
Today was a fun day at work. We are changing the office layout a little bit and so it was time for me to move my workstation.
Luckily I didn’t have to move far. Basically only one desk further to the left. But the great thing was that I was getting a new computer.
The computer I worked with the last couple of years definitely isn’t the newest one anymore. With the variety of projects, I have to work on currently, 16 gigabytes of ram isn’t enough anymore.
The old computer will be reset to factory settings and a new coworker, that will be showing up in April, will be using it until it breaks down.
The new one on the other side will be mine for probably at least four to five years. With the state of the art power it has, I think that won’t be a problem.
Besides an Intel Core i7900, 32 gigabytes of ram it also has a 1030 Nvidia graphics card. I am not sure why the put in such a graphics card, but at least it handles the three monitors without a hassle.
So, most of my day consisted of moving files and projects around. From time to time that is a good thing to do, to clear up stuff that nobody needs anymore.
