Reading

Yesterday I started reading Isaac Asimov’s Tyrann (The Stars, Like Dust). So I thought I should write about how and when I am reading.

Normally I am reading three books at the same time. One “normal” novel (mostly Science Fiction, currently the one mentioned above), one political (currently “Brexit Farce und Tragödie”, a collection of Essays about the Brexit) and one non-fiction book (currently “EKG-Kurs für Isabel”, a book about the electrocardiogram and “Preserving Minds, Saving lives”, a book about cryonics written by Alcor).

It sounds like I am doing too many things at the same time. Well, the thing is, the fact that the topic of all “in-progress” books is completely different, make it easy for me to switch.

Normally, I am reading from Chapter to Chapter which makes it easy to come back to the book as I don’t start mid-Chapter.

Also, I can switch the book after reading a Chapter if it is difficult to understand, like the electrocardiogram one. So I can read one Chapter in that one and enjoy one or two Chapters of the Asimov one.

When I’m reading is now a completely other question. Currently, I try to create a habit of at least reading one Chapter in one of the books per day. Normally I’m reading before I go to sleep, so I can quit electronic screens before falling asleep.
