Tenacious D

Yesterday I was in Vienna again. And again I was listening to a concert. This time it was Tenacious D. A Rock Band of Jack Black (yes the actor) and Kyle Gass.

They played in Vienna’s City Hall. If you ask me, all standing places were sold out. On the seating once, that was not the case. At least a couple hundred seats were still available when they started to play.

Currently, they are on there Post Apocalypto tour. The new album which came out last year or the year before. The interesting thing was, that the album was published with a cartoon.

They built a stage where the band would play behind a large see-through canvas which was used to show a short version of the movie. Basically it was a few minutes of the movie, a song, and again a few minutes of the movie.

About halfway into the movie was finished and they started to play their most recognized songs. Most notably “Tribute”. By then the crowd was going crazy.

I think the canvas movie thing at first didn’t work well in Vienna. The mood just wouldn’t come up.

When the started to play their “greatest hits” that changed luckily and the crowd was growling every sentence of the NSFW hits. After 24 songs the concert ended after about two hours of great entertainment.

Definitely a band I would watch again. You can find the setlist here.
