Körperwelten
Yesterday I was in the capital of Austria again. I visited an exhibition called “Körperwelten” which translates to “Bodyworlds”. It is an exhibition about the human body.
Somewhere in the past, an Anatomist started this exhibition by collecting and preserving bodies. Currently, the main focus of it is on the Human Heart. But it shows the whole body, including the states of a baby.
All exhibited bodies were donated. Obviously you are not allowed to take any pictures. I bought the book that comes with the exhibition afterwards. It shows the whole process of the preservation of the bodies and how that Doctor came to do what he does.
It feels a little bit strange walking through all those dead bodies. Especially the part where they show the states of a baby growing is really tough. As you know that every baby needed to die to be in this exhibition.
The Anatomist also states right at the beginning that the body itself is the centre point of the exhibition and not the strokes of the fate of the people who came to donate them.
I really enjoyed the exhibition, but I have to say it also burns itself a little bit into your mind.
As far as I know, the exhibition changes it’s location every half year or so.
If you’ve got the possibility to visit it, be sure to check it out if you’re interested in the Anatomy of the human body. It is definitely worth the money.
