Vampires

While reading @ashleyhwriter story I thought about vampires and why movies and stories about them have so many fans?

At first, I have to admit I’m preoccupied. My mother was watching Buffy (the vampire slayer) while she was younger and read a bunch of vampire books. So I was influenced heavily by her.

I watched Vampire Diaries, True Blood, Twilight, Buffy, Blade and other vampire stuff.

The available vampire stuff is sheer endless. But why is that the case?

If you look at the starting point of this movement: Dracula, it’s a completely different story than the “current” / “modern” ones. Dracula was a blood-sucking, shape-shifting guy.

If you look at Buffy, the vampires are ugly. In Vampire Diaries or Twilight, they are the “most beautiful” people around town. Which can be “invincible” to the disadvantages Dracula had.

It is also interesting how different Vampires behaviour can be. From completely anti-human (like in Blade) to we want to live along with humans (True Blood, Twilight).

Is it the great variations someone can use to write Vampire stuff and because of the large number of different stories, many people find a story they like?

Or has it to do with the fact that vampires in newer stories the vampires are idols for some people?

Perfect bodies, “forever young”, extreme strength and living forever? All of them with “only” the one small problem to drink blood.

I’ll leave you here. If you want, let me know your opinion on that topic :)
