Paramedic Trainings

I was in paramedic mode the last weekend. A straight 12-hour shift on Saturday. Nothing special. We were driving just a few kilometres as luckily nothing really bad had happened.

Next weekend I am going to do a 24-hour shift. But back to last weekend. :)

The new paramedic training just started and I helped to work with the fresh “meat” (paramedic trainees).

Basically I just regularly added my mustard (can I say that in English?). Also, I like working with people and I generally like to stand in front of people and present or educate something.

I thought about getting the licence to educate first aid courses before. I am thinking about it again. There is a bunch of stuff to learn to get the licence. I think there are a bunch of courses to take and in the end, you get checked before you can train other people.

I already signed up for an advanced training next Septemeber. It will be about a week of hardcore theory about large accidents and how to lead employees.

Obviously I will have to take that week off of work. And if I consider doing the first aid trainer also, I am probably looking at another week off.

Not that it would be a problem, but if I sacrifice another week for education, it is a “lost” week of vacation. Also, I need to talk to the area commander if they would pay for another course. They aren’t cheap and it doesn’t really bring a bunch of value for them.
