Stuff for the Terrarium

Today I received the first batch of stuff for my terrarium project.

An infrared thermometer, cables, sensors, boxes to transport food animals, feed bowls and a few other things.

Sadly one of the boxes was damaged, but tomorrow I will send it right back. Also, a set of food bowls was way smaller than I thought, they are also going to be sent back.

In the morning hours of the day, I started to get TerrariumPI running, before I went to work, sadly it somehow doesn’t want to start. I quickly filed an issue on Github, maybe somebody can help me in the next days.

A co-worker thinks something might be messed up with the path. As I don’t know python really good, I didn’t think more about it.

After work, I unpacked all the stuff and started to examine the temperature sensors I bought. I bought cheap and waterproof DS18B20 sensors which are 1-wire sensors and read their value directly in digital format.

The only bad thing about them is that none of them has his ID printed on it, so I need to connect all ten separately and read it out. But that has the advantage that I know immediately if they work correctly.

If my father got time on Friday, we will start working on the “base” of the Terrarium. I think I already wrote that I bought the wood last week.

I’ll keep you updated on the process.
