World Usability Congress
Today I was in the capital city of Styria (Graz) and visited the Wold Usability Congress (WUC for short).
The company I work at sends staff there every year. Normally that’s two people of the management and two people from the product management, or development management.
The event spans over three days, where on Tuesday it is basically a get-together and Network event. On that day only management is present.
Yesterday two of our product managers (and the two from management) were there and today a coworker from the Java team and I had the chance to take a look.
I got the offer to go to the conference I while back as some kind of small reward for my productivity and work.
Thinking about the ticket price and that I get the whole day paid I am really thankful I could attend such an event.
Sure I was at conferences before, but normally the time spent there is half working time and half vacation.
Also the trip to and from is paid (about an hour drive, each direction).
Sadly the talks I attended weren’t as good as I thought they might be, but still, it was an interesting insight into the “design world”.
