Writing Language

I am not sure if I have written about it in the last, but since I can’t remember it, I probably didn’t. :)

Anyway, today I read the first german post (well, first according to @basilesamel) here on 200 Words a day.

Immediately it stroke me, why do I write in English? If I remember correctly we have several writers here who write in their mother-tongue. Why did I choose English?

As I am working as a developer every day it is obvious that English isn’t something new for me. Also, I was educated in English for several years in school. So there wasn’t really a barrier which could have kept me at posting in German.

Another fear could have been that I would write in a language this platform almost nobody would speak and so my audience would be almost zero?

But I think I chose it, to improve my English. If you’re going to a conference in Europe, with international Guests, it is obvious they’re talking English. So why not improve?

I was alone in London a few years ago (business conference trip) and was really afraid at first. I didn’t talk in English for a while. Sure, I’m watching some youtube videos from American LetsPlayers from time to time, but listening to a language and understanding it is totally different to speaking it.
