Staring at Fire

Today a new gadget for my balcony arrived. I “ordered” it months ago on Kickstart, even though I had some bad experiences on it. But, back to the topic. Fire.

It is a tool that basically creates a fire hose inside a glass tube. And not just a look like-fire hose, it is a real, half a meter flame spinning inside a glass tube.

It is fueled with some slimy alcohol paste which burns down in about one and a half hour if I remember correctly.

Anyway. While I am writing this, I am almost exclusively staring at the flame. It looks absolutely astounding with a small portion of craziness.

It is fascinating how something simple can almost hypnotise someone. It is almost like meditating. “Stare at the flame, concentrate on your breathing.”

I think I could sit here for hours and hours to come. It is like staring at the washing machine and waiting for it to be done.

The flame really keeps me hooked, it is hard to look away to check the written text.

It would be interesting to know why that happens. Why can a human stare at something so simple, without wasting a single thought and just “be”?
