Portfolio Tracking Apps

This Blog Post was originally published on adagia.org.

As you might already know, I’ve got a bunch of different portfolios (or depots) to track. There is the main one that holds my ETFs then there is a smaller one which holds some of my crypto-assets (BTC & ETH), then there is a crypto-exchange that holds a small balance of BTC and ETH my trading bot uses and of course there is the crypto.com App which currently holds the largest amount of assets.

I have been lurking around Reddit this week (especially r/Finanzen, the German r/Finance) and stumbled upon a thread that was asking about a portfolio tracking software or app. I didn’t save the thread, so I can’t link to it, however, I’ve got the recommendations.

The first app recommended was “getQuin”. A simple Web- and Native- App where you can track every Asset which got an ISIN, Cryptos and even Real Estate. But it has a downside, no CSV imports in Austria, no direct import from exchanges or brokers. Although the interface is really cool, especially it also tells you in which “countries/regions” you are invested (based on the ETFs and Shares). But entering every single transaction is a hassle.

The second recommendation was “delta.app”. Also, an interesting concept and it can even import directly from exchanges. The huge downside, only an app for mobile is available. Nothing for desktop.
Not only can I fully empower my programming skills, but I also got easy access to all things financial (broker accounts, exchanges and so on).
And, of course, no CSV import. I wonder why nobody implements those? You can get a CSV export on every exchange I encountered so far, even the most “shady” once got one.

I’ve also got another recommendation for open-source desktop software. Although that sounded great at the beginning, no crypto assets, no mobile access.

This brings me to the conclusion that I need to implement something myself. I spent a good portion of the day yesterday to get started and even managed to import my first CSV file from my broker. I intend to also implement multi-user functionality so I can share my craft with other enthusiasts. Maybe I can even create a small business app from it. I can’t be the only one who wants great graphics and even greater reports?
