Home Office

This Blog Post was originally published on the platform "writelier" (formerly "co-writers" and "200wordsaday"). Sadly the blogging platform was discontinued. I downloaded all my blog posts and prepared them to be republish them here.

Today was the day. The company I work at sent all people into Home Office starting with next Monday. I didn't expect that it will change that quickly, but it is how it is and caution is better than leniency.

Since I had already the opportunity to work from home, I don't need to set up the VPN or any other software as I have it running already. For many of my coworkers that isn't the case. So the whole working from home thing will also load test our VPN solution. It will be interesting to see how that will work out.

I was also contacted by the Red Cross and asked if I could help to transport COVID-19 tests from the local hospital to the laboratory. With the Home Office rule in place, I agreed to it. Every help somebody can do is currently heavily appreciated.

Austrian schools will also start to close down on the next Monday. Further actions will also be announced by the Austrian Government in a press conference later today. The closedown of service companies (e.g. hairdressers) is likely to occur.

Some people are even speculating about a curfew. I don't think they will announce something critically before the weekend, but in times like these, who knows?
