Financial Idiot 000 - Welcome
This Blog Post was originally distributed by the Newsletter "Financial Idiot". You can find and subscribe to it here.
DISCLAIMER: I'm an idiot and this isn't financial advice! You can lose money when investing, and you should never invest money you don't own or you can't afford to lose. I'm not responsible for your decisions!
Hello and Welcome to the first issue of the Financial Idiot,
You are receiving this newsletter because you signed up for it, or I added you to the list. I thought you might be interested in Investing, Finances, Money, Cryptocurrencies and everything that comes with it.
I'm sorry I added you to the list if you did not subscribe. You can unsubscribe below. Please don't hate me. :)
So without further ado, let me introduce myself and the idea behind this newsletter: my name is Philipp Haidenbauer, and I'm a full-time web developer living in Austria. I started thinking and working on my finances around 2019 when I bought an Apartment.
I noticed that there is a bunch of stuff to learn regarding finances, and sadly nobody is teaching it at school.
After I made a complete mistake on my Apartment mortgage in 2019, I refinanced in 2020 and started investing at the end of the year.
In this newsletter, I want to help others out that might be in the same situation as me: young and financially uneducated. The idea is to publish every other week and bring topics that interest me currently in the financial world. I will also let you peek into my finances and show you how I decided. Since I live in Austria, all issues will be from the Austrian perspective (mainly regarding taxes). I think the financial markets are mostly the same throughout the world, so everything I write about should be doable in every country.
If you have any suggestions or ideas on what topic I should cover, be sure to send me an email (there is a button below). Also, please reach out to me if you find any errors I made. I would also like to hear from you if you want to tell your own financial story (of course, anonymously if you want).
I'm unsure where this newsletter will be heading, so any feedback is highly welcome and appreciated. You can also share it with other people if you want. Maybe we can build a community around this topic.
If you don't want to stay subscribed, you can also head over to https://blog.phaidenbauer.com/tag/financial-idiot/. I intend to share all Issues a month after publishing them via email.
You can find out more about me on my https://blog.phaidenbauer.com/ (there aren't many articles yet, as I still need to import them from another platform in the future), or as you might guess, just send me an email. :)
Before I go, one crucial thing: I'm an idiot (hence the name "Financial Idiot"), and this isn't financial advice! You can lose money when investing, and you should never invest money you don't have (Spoiler: I sometimes do a little bit) or you can't afford to lose. Be sure to make your own decision and don't follow mine blindly; I regularly make mistakes. :)
I hope to see you soon in the first "real" issue. It will be in your inbox on 15th March 2022.
All the best, your idiot Philipp Haidenbauer.
