Disney+
This Blog Post was originally published on the platform "writelier" (formerly "co-writers" and "200wordsaday"). Sadly the blogging platform was discontinued. I downloaded all my blog posts and prepared them to be republish them here.
Today Disney Plus started in Austria. I prepaid it a few days ago to get the cheap deal for the first year (60€ instead of 70€). So it costs as much as Amazon Prime does.
While I had my lunch break I quickly looked through the available content.
I have to say I am surprised. Besides all things Marvel and obviously all things Disney, there is a large National Geographic sector. I didn't expect that much content but keeping in mind that Disney is there since, before the second world war, it shouldn't be surprising.
It won't be long until they celebrate their hundredth year of being in business (2023 I think).
So for as long as the quarantine and restrictions are in place here in Austria, I will definitely have no day where I can't watch anything. Unless the internet goes down.
With the acquisition of FOX buy Disney, I also saw that all 30 Seasons of the Simpsons are available. Time to start watching them from the beginning on.
Also, I want to note that Disney is definitely using Netflixes software and Amazons hardware. Even though I think they never said anything like that publicly, but the interface looks soo similar and more importantly feels similar.
Sure they could have built something similar, but I think the large three (Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney) are sharing codebases and hardware. Economically it would make sense as at least Disney and Netflix aren't competing with content.
