COVID-19

This Blog Post was originally published on the platform "writelier" (formerly "co-writers" and "200wordsaday"). Sadly the blogging platform was discontinued. I downloaded all my blog posts and prepared them to be republish them here.

Today I talked with coworkers about the Corona Virus. As it is in everybody's mouth right now, I thought I should write a few lines about it.

From a paramedic perspective, I can say I don't know much about it. I heard the rumours everybody is hearing currently. I am not even sure which rumours are true and which are made up completely.

The misinformation out there is pretty enormous and people are panicking. That is probably the only true information. Besides that, I heard the only people that could potentially die from it are the ones with sever preconditions.

I will be doing a paramedic shift on Saturday and I have to say I am not in fear. My immune system should be able to handle a potential infection. Recently I've written about a patient with influenza. COVID 2019 doesn't produce more fear in me than influenza does.

The only thing that bothers me a little bit is that I don't have large food reserves in my apartment. I could probably get along two or three days but after that, I would have to call somebody to collect something for me.

Maybe after this whole trauma is over and the virus is "under control", I will stockpile up some things. But definitely not know, when everybody is trying to get something.
