Competition
This Blog Post was originally published on the platform "writelier" (formerly "co-writers" and "200wordsaday"). Sadly the blogging platform was discontinued. I downloaded all my blog posts and prepared them to be republish them here.
It is Saturday again and the first writing competition is going to end in a few hours.
I am really thankful that @keni, @abrahamKim and @basilesamel worked together to get this first community writing competition up and running.
I wrote my post on Thursday and I have to admit I can't wait to see what other competitors would come up with. I already read @twizzle 's post and I found it already better than mine.
I can't wait to see who's gonna win this first event and I'm already looking forward to the next one. I also need to find time to listen to the podcast, as two episodes are already out. But I'm digressing.
I didn't like competitions when I was younger. In school, we did a bunch of sports competitions regularly and I hated it.
Because of my overweight, I never was at a place that I could "win" something or be the best in something.
Later that changed. Suddenly I was the class best in the technology colleague, even though I am really bad at maths. I finished paramedic training with an award.
Then my point of view on competitions changed. I don't participate in them anymore because I want to win, but because I want to be part of it.
As I finished my civilian service, I came out with way more self-confidence than I had ever before. And one thought came into my mind: "Why the hell should I measure myself against the values of others? It's my life and I want to live it the way I want it to be".
Since then I bought two cars and changed my Apartment two times. Nobody said it would be a good idea, or that I probably will be broke soon. Guess what, I'm still feeling lucky and I'm not broke. Haters gonna hate :)
