Apple Event

Apple had an early iPad event this year, so I listened to it while working. There is a new iPad Air and a new iPad Pro. The Air now features two sizes (same as pro 11" and 13") and the M2 processor. The iPad Pro got a new M4 processor, which was leaked before, but I didn’t expect.

It must feel strange for people that recently bought a new MacBook with M3 to now see a Tablet with an even more powerful processor. But on the other end, the new M4 seems to have way more “AI” processing power, so I think it is the new benchmark processor for the upcoming IOS AI update (which isn’t officially confirmed as far as I know).

Since Apple wants to run AI stuff on the devices directly instead inside the cloud, it makes sense to launch one new product with some powerful AI processor before the software update comes along.

What makes me curious is, if the new iPad Pro with the M4 gets the new fancy AI shit on the WWDC in June, could that mean that the next iPhone will be getting an M processor instead of an A?

Time will tell.
